New EP – Listen In

Last week we posted our new EP to Soundcloud, with releases on Spotify/Amazon/iTunes etc to follow! The aim for this EP was to create something lighter and more easy listening than the music we wrote for our band Limbic System. We wanted more focus on loops and beats, something you can tap your foot to, and I think we managed to achieve it. Click here to hear it for free.

My love of French music

I was first introduced to Debussy’s music when I was about 14 years old. I was performing some Chopin at a concert, and another pianist asked me to page turn for him. He played Clair De Lune and from then on I was hooked. I immediately learned it, then ploughed on through more of his repertoire including most of Children’s Corner, the Deux Arabesques, Rêverie and then studied the wonderful Images Oubliées while at University. I fell in love with […]

February in England

It’s been a busy fortnight in England! When I come back I always fit in as many harp related things as I can. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve performed solo harp at the London Canal Museum, headlined a gig at The Good Ship with my band Limbic System, had a lesson with my harp teacher Helen, and a catch up with Brighton based harpist Andrew. Not to mention band practise on top of my normal practise! It’s nice […]

New Year, New Repertoire

Over the next few months I’ll be learning a whole load of new music, starting work on some pieces from the LRSM repertoire list. I’m finding the pieces to be a nice challenge, really working my fingers hard! I’ve been finishing off Glinka’s Nocturne, and Salzedo’s Siciliana from his Suite of 8 Dances, as well as Pescetti’s Sonata in C Minor, and Ravel’s Menuet from Tombeau de Couperin. Work has begun on Salzedo’s Rumba from the Suite of 8 Dances, […]

Another Project – Electronic Music

My partner trained as a classical musician but soon became interested in electronic music, being very technologically minded and passionate about anything to do with computers (except for games. How boring). When we met he immediately introduced me to the genre and I learned a little about the intricacies behind the creative process – making new sounds, the combination of acoustic recording and synthesized patterns, and of course mixing and mastering. We started playing together in the band Limbic System, […]

Harp Music at Christmas

Each year I start refreshing my Christmas repertoire at the beginning of November at the latest, to ensure that by December, it’s all ready to be performed for Christmas events. Christmas is always a crazy time for musicians, with Carol concerts and recitals, Christmas parties and Winter Weddings, but I really enjoy the buzz; this time of year is definitely not boring! My favourite piece of Christmas music has to be Variations pastorales sur un vieux noël by Marcel Samuel-Rousseau. […]

A New Harp Blog

Here’s a new feature for my website in time for Christmas! A little blog for me to write about anything music related. Here you’ll find posts about pieces I’m currently working on, concerts I’m performing in, and events I’m playing for. Some quick background: I divide my time between England and France. When I’m in France, I spend most of my time practising, with a little bit of composition too. I come back to England for performances and events. Its […]
