I can’t believe we’re already one month into 2015! 2014 went out with a bang for me, I had so much on. The Ceremony of Carols with the East Grinstead Choral Society went very well, a sell-out night with a really varied programme of music. I also performed at Hurstpierpoint College for their Christmas concert – excerpts from the Ceremony of Carols along with some really gorgeous Vaughan Williams pieces. My teacher Helen Arnold and I held a pupil’s concert too, featuring our students from total beginners to grade 8 standard. It was very inspiring!
I also played for quite a few Christmas weddings, each one quite different in their own way: A small intimate wedding where a sleigh with real reindeer surprised the bride and groom during their photoshoot; a family-packed red and gold themed wedding where I learned something special for the bride to walk down the aisle to; a candle-lit ceremony followed by a relaxed reception and meal where as requested by the groom, I surprised the bride by playing the theme from her favourite TV show, Game of Thrones.
I don’t often play for weddings in January so now’s my chance to learn some new repertoire for next season. Currently working on some more jazz tunes!
